On open mic night my voice coach always made sure we had our poems memorized. I remember all too clearly the burning bright lights that lit that theater stage. When my nerves settled in, I peeked behind the maroon curtains to reveal a sold out show. My dad could be seen in the front row both excited and camera ready. As they called me to the stage I took a deep breath, held my head high, and prepared to give the best performance of my 8 year old life.

In hindsight, I realize that it was moments like those that propelled my love for the fine arts. The collective adoration for the spotlights, raw emotion, and adrenaline rush, ultimately afforded me the opportunity to become apart of an ongoing theater group called Phantom Projects. This Los Angeles based group focused on educating young adults on issues such as teen pregnancy, eating disorders, race, and body image.

In 2013, I moved from Los Angeles, California to Detroit Michigan to purse a Bachelors of Arts in English at Marygrove College. During this time I became a Radio Personality for Tap Detroit, where I interviewed local music artists, and hosted local poetry nights.

After I completed my undergrad I attended Michigan State University where I am currently pursing a Masters in Journalism with an emphasis in radio and television.

Although I have many interest I am proud to identify as a bilingual radio broadcaster that utilizes online communities as a platform for highlighting fitness, poetry, and music artists.

I believe that by building a rapport through these communities, we are able to educate, appreciate, and celebrate the many talents that make us bold and unique. I also feel that by doing so, there is a chance that I can influence someone who is stuck peeking around the curtain to their potential.
